Book inspired outfit #2

Catherine Marks from Married by Morning - Lisa Kleypas.

Catherine Marks, a spinster too young for her age, is a paid companion for the beautiful girls belonging to a wealthy family. She is a serious no-nonsense woman with a genuine interest in geography and other intellectual subjects that proper ladies shouldn't be concerned with. She has no family, apart from her employers and nobody knows about her past which still remains a mystery. She loves to write in her brown leather diary which smells like old paper and lovely memories.

you set my soul alight.

In case you are wondering what's up with the title of this post, its just a line off this song I like a lot :)
Last week, out of nowhere, my sister decided to doll up a little more than her usual self for an outing with friends. Since, I was stuck with a test and my polka dot PJ's (oh yeah) , I clicked a few pictures just for fun.

(this is the part where I asked her to pose a little with her face actually showing thus resulting in this weirdly scrunched up leave-me-alone expression)

Top : United Colors of Benetton, Trousers : Zara, Boots : Carlton London, Scarf : mom's, Ring : thrifted.

These pictures gave me a reality check on how bad I am with a camera.
Oh, well.

Book inspired outfit #1

I am a proud reader of cheesy romance novels that ALWAYS end happily and fill you with a warm, dizzy feeling. To an outsider, every story may seem like a repitition of an overrated plot, but a reader knows how different every single book is. It brings to life a whole new set of characters who often come across as strong, inspiring people (even if fictional) that leave an everlasting impact on our minds.
Everyone of us, in some way, can relate to the female leads. They are imperfect, yet they have unique personalities that touch our hearts. Moreover, they have a distinct style of dressing, depending on their persona (and the era).

I decided to do a little bring-me-to-life experiment with Tara York, the herione of the last book I read (Silhouette : His Majesty, M.D.) :
Tara York, in her 20's and fairly attractive, is an impossibly clumsy accident prone freak. She prefers to hide herself behind loose, crazy clothes that drive away people or particularly the greedy suitors who are merely interested in her father's volumes of wealth. She is a hardworker and stays up late at night to work on her Phd. She yearns for independence and wants to make a difference in the world.
Anyhoo, I have to gossip endlessly on phone and eat crackers study for an economics test.
So later, people.

Lights and other bright stuff (:

This post has been lying in the drafts since forever BECAUSE my internet is a piece of shit.
Diwali didn't turn out to be as bad as I pictured. Maybe a little on the boring side (see: dad forcing us to sing in the pooja) but certainly fun, especially when it came to the crackers (just a few because they are plain scary). I got to click some beautiful pictures.

Made by the sister. I wish I could be that artistic -.-

I decided to pose a little here since all my pictures are usually a blur.

Thanks to Picasa Web Album, I could finally upload these pictures.
I hate my internet >.<

Summer of love

Some pictures from my latest fascination, Summer of Love i.e. the summer of 1967. It must be a sight, 100,000 hippies/bohemians gathering in Sans Francisco to create a cultural rebellion. The hypnotizing  psychedelic music teamed up with weed, LSD and 'free love' sounds exotic. I wish I could see it for real.

My obsession with Looklet is back. Oh well.
