80's Apple Flashback

This is what I found over at The Trad, Apple's 1986 collection. It isn't as chic and sleek as the rest of its creations, but I love these geeky outfits.

K is for Kate who was struck with an axe.

With his gothic graphics and twisted sense of humor, Edward Gorey was one hell of an artist. His dark, gloomy pieces of work, where little children suffer everything from being abducted and fed to sharks to being squashed under a train, are terryfying and thrilling at the same time. I remember buying my first Edward Gorey book at a country inn in Rajasthan back in 5th grade and ever since, I am on a collecting spree.

He never married or involved in any sort of romantic liasons EVER which makes me weirdly proud of him.
Once, during an interview he was pressed about his sexual orientation and this is what he said -

I'm neither one thing nor the other particularly. I am fortunate in that I am apparently reasonably undersexed or something...I've never said that I was gay and I've never said that I wasn't...what I'm trying to say is that I am a person before I am anything else....
He agreed that the "sexlessness" of his novels was a product of his asexuality. One person who came and went without love and still managed to do something commendable. He is such a perfect idol.
“I really think I write about everyday life. I don’t think I’m quite as odd as others say I am. Life is intrinsically, well, boring and dangerous at the same time. At any given moment the floor may open up. Of course, it almost never does; that’s what makes it so boring.”
-Edward Gorey.

Inspite of all the controversies (see : misinterpreted words and unnecessary wrath), The Paris Bombay Collection by Chanel is exceptionally beautiful.

Can I poison you?

I was supposed to attend a follow up wedding event today with my sister but I chose to stay at home and stuff myself with greasy pizza and butterscotch mousse. I saw Ghost World after a long long time. The only respectable movie on my laptop since my dog decided to chew the portable disk's wire.
I don't know why it gives me butteflies in the stomach. It reminds me of a hospital I visited once, with stark white chairs under a green shed where I sat for hours waiting for my brother to come out. A girl, who was under special medication, had escaped from her room and was running around with a syringe.

I love the serene neighborhood, plain white and striped houses, metal railings, pink walls, random pants on the floor, a bus that never comes, a wannabe 50's cafe, Enid's room, Seymour's record room, orange punch at parties, leather mini skirts, green hair & ancient phones.

Enid is the perfect example of a self assured cynic with a cruel sense of humour and a hidden craving for acceptance. However, as much as I would like to be an Enid, I know I am a Rebecca. I would mould myself into whatever is required and just sway along. The quiet, slightly less witty girl who wants to be quirky and more of a talker, but prefers to remain in her comfort zone. Getting on a bus which goes nowhere will always remain a secret fantasy for  her.

Anyhow, it is not unknown how much Enid and Daria resemble. Personally, I think Enid has a wicked streak in her and is more outspoken unlike Daria. Also she is more daring what with the hair dyes and bright red lipsticks.

I want to watch reruns of Big Bang theory but I am considering going to bed already if it means not listening to my dad's uneccesary complaints about everything in general.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011

I have been meaning to make this post since a long time now, but between school and other shit, I did not get enough time. But here it is now, and these videos are a must watch.
Kanye West and Maroon 5. It couldn't get any better.

Several of the show’s supermodels included Adriana Lama, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo.

5 random favorite things.

For the past few days, I was on the roll with regular posts until a crappy Math test decided to ruin it . I want high school to end, FAST.
Anyhow, I came up with 5 random things I like (in no particular order)
and listed them behind my math textbook because, yes you guessed it right, I was NOT studying.

High-waisted skirts.

Even though I feel awkward wearing one myself, they are without a doubt, the most chic piece of garment a girl can own. There's one for every occasion.

Picnic in the valleys with sun overhead and pancakes with syrup.

Catch a game of polo (see: white gloves) with elite & boring friends.

Lounging by the pool in Four Seasons.

Important meeting with the bosses.

A walk in the wilderness.

Rocker chick goes to a concert.

Suburbs.
Neat houses, green lawns, sprinklers and picket fences.
I sometimes dream about them, but everything is blinding white so I can't see a thing.

They look so peaceful on the surface but nobody knows what lurks behind this prim and proper facade. It maybe frustrated housewives, cheating husband or depressed children.

Mountains.
I like the way they are so alien, seperate from everything else, yet so beautiful. I can certainly live on one for the rest of my life and not complain. I would take pictures and listen to psychedelic rock all day.

Petals on the wind.
I got it from a garage sale where it lied next to a picture book about snow leopards. I love the gothic theme and the twisted plot. Its better than the first book, Flowers in the attic.

Here is a great review I found online.
Its weird how Chris is in love with his own sister Cathy (see : beautiful, selfish ballet dancer) who in turn loves the mute old man who adopted the two of them and their violently ill younger sister, Carrie. Their return in the outer world is very interesting, after being prisoned in an attic for ages.

Pinback.
I love their music, it is so catchy and ticklish.
